The newest restaurant  to burst onto the scene in Almancil is Bistro des Artes!  

Sure, Bistro des Artes has been a haunt for holiday-makers and locals for years.  But earlier this year, noted Chef Jonnie Pratt bought the space and has been slowly injecting his own vibe, not only into the extraordinary menu, but also into the ambiance of the restaurant.  The result?…a gastronomic experience that will titillate your tongue and deliver a delightful dining experience. 

Throughout his career, Jonnie honed his skills and perfected his technique as Executive Chef at numerous five-star hotels in Ireland, Dubai and Portugal.  It was the Hilton in Vilamoura that attracted Jonnie to the Algarve, where he successfully opened the hotel’s restaurant.   He remained there until early this year when he decided to finally seek his own venue;  he bought Bistro des Artes.

All of Jonnie’s dishes are built around quality, originality and freshness.  Most menu items incorporate ingredients from local Algarvian farmers, or in fact grown in the garden behind the restaurant.  His bistro-style food is “a taste of everywhere.”  Popular starters include:  parfait of chicken liver with muscatel jelly; gratinated goat’s cheese bruschetta, walnut, honey & cumin crust; and grilled scallops in spicy beurre blanc served on spinach & chorizo.  delectable entrees:  saddle of rabbit & “presunto”, carrot mousseline, tarragon jus; shank of lamb with truffle puree; and, tagliatelle & quail in a smoked grape champagne sauce.  Leave room for dessert:  almond tart with port poached pear & sorbet; raspberry crème brulée; and, chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream.
