Bikes on Steroids! World Superbike Championship 2010 – Portimao, Algarve

Now in its 23rd edition, the World Superbike Championships will be held at the new Autodromo International Algarve.  These are bikes loaded with testosterone and raced with extreme competitiveness that is recognized worldwide.

The bikes used on the track are built on the basis of production models rather than from prototypes.  While rules vary from series to series, in general the motorcycles must maintain the same profile as their roadgoing counterparts, with the same overall appearance as seen from the front, rear and sides. In addition, the frame cannot be modified. Teams may modify some elements of the bike, including the suspensions, brakes, swingarm, and the diameter and size of the wheels.

The seven factory teams competing this year include:  Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki & Yamaha.
